Rural Estate & Woodland Management

Rural Estate Management

Rural Estate Management has been Laws & Fiennes’ core business since it was established in 1946 and still is today, we manage estates ranging from 50 to over 3,000 acres. We are proud of our long associations with a wide range of clients including private individuals, families and charitable trusts and institutions offering tailored services to meet each individual owner’s objectives.

We are a dedicated team offering expert local knowledge and sound, professional advice, helping their clients to optimise the assets to achieve their objectives. We are approachable and trustworthy with relationships, innovation and service at the heart of what we do. We pride ourselves on providing an independent, speedy and responsive service.

We are able to offer a range of services from a comprehensive management role to associated professional work ranging from core activities of advice on landlord and tenant matters and mapping, through to tax and estate planning.

Most clients take advantage of the full client accounting service we offer, including rent collection, payroll management, budgets and cash flows, Vat returns and liaison with accountants and auditors.

The properties we manage include let and in-hand farmland (under various different arrangements), residential, commercial, retail, equine enterprises, mineral rights and woodland. Most of the properties are located in Oxfordshire and the adjoining counties, but for institutional clients we also manage property throughout the south of England, together with a large estate on the eastern edge of Leeds.

Client Accounting

Our experienced client accounting team operates out of our office at Broughton and complies with the RICS members rules covering client money, UK legislation, VAT and other property related regulations. We provide a dedicated day-to-day management of clients’ accounts, offering a personalised and discreet service. We pride ourselves on the quality of service we are able to offer private rural estates where accounting can often be complex.

Forestry & Woodland Management

Whether small woodlands situated amongst farmland or large commercial blocks we are able to offer strategic woodland reviews of existing plantations and prepare management policies. On a practical basis we can take an active role in the management of woodlands, advising on planting, harvesting and grant aid for the short, medium and long term.

In conjunction with our client’s other professional advisors we are able to develop tax-efficient and flexible programmes to maximise the potential of woodland assets. We are also able to advise on timber marketing, tree safety surveys, and woodland management for amenity, biodiversity or country pursuits depending on our clients objectives.
